History
The course of the past few weeks running through his mind. The marathon tournament that was at WrestleMania 4, winning the WWE Franchise World Championship, the Hall of Fame Induction, King of the Ring, and the ever so impending loss to Intercontinental Champion Zack Ryder loom over the head of our current WWE Franchise Champion.
Role Play
We come to see Shane Douglas standing in the shaddows of the locker room following Monday Night Raw. His hair drenched as water rushes over from his head down the upper half of his body. The towel firmly tucked around his waist as he limps out of the shower area and towards his baggage. The black leather suit case which holds his belonging is laid wide open. The black gym back with "Franchise" etched in gold lettering on the top compartment sits with the top caved in from the pile of sweaty wrestling gear piled on top of it. And then we have the WWEF Championship hanging from the crossbar in front of him. The gold belt glistening back from the lights above. Douglas's reflection in the title shows the face of a sorrow man. He reaches up into the cubby above the title belt and grabs his gold watch, wallet, Hall of Fame ring, and necklace sporting a cross. He sits the items down on his suit case as he then runs his hands over his face several times, trying to digest everything that's gone on.
Franchise: I set out several months ago to capture the title belt hanging in front of me. I had persued it for the past four years only to come up short in my first and only attempt. You have any idea what that did to me? It lit a fire under me in which I had long forgotten. It had for once in my career, instead of being handed half of my title opportunities I had to actually remember what it was like to earn my way back to this point. And what a long and tedious ride this has been for me. No one except for the boys here tonight both past and present can sympathize what I have been through. Guys like Edge, AJ Styles, Scott Hall, and Robert Roode have seen and heard me time after time. Riding up and down the roads.. No matter how many times I took the Intercontiental Title or the ECW Championship did it ever mean as much to me as this one single night.. That night was WrestleMania.. That night I did what everyone else had wrote me off for and that was to become the World Heavyweight Champion one more time.
Douglas grabs a pair of boxer briefs and slips them on under his towel. Then he removes the towel and chucks in into the the shower stall. He then grabs his blue jeans and slips them on. After fastening them, Shane places his wallet into his left front pocket. He places his watch on his left wrist and the HOF ring on his right ring finger. Douglas then unclasps the necklace and places it around his neck only to reclasp it. The cross comes to a rest in the center of his chest. Shane then grabs the belt and unlatches the buttons on the strap. He pulls it from the bar and grabs a near by padded folding chair. He sits down on the chair and cradles the belt in his arms like a new born baby. Staring at the belt, the gold reflection brightens the area around his face. His eyes are wide in bewilderment.
Franchise: If you would have told me a few months ago that the McMahon Family was going to put the World Title up in a tournament for one night only, I would have called you a liar. When I got the phone call and was told about it.. It struck me odd; almost froze me to death because then I was hell bent on destruction.. I was hell bent on riding this company of both Vince McMahon and Edge. But things changed when this tournament was placed under way and the matches began to come through. With each match I for once in my career was very unsure of how this was going to unfold. Each match was different, but the endings were all the same until the final match. I was in there with Jerry Sags of the Nasty Boys. Earlier in the night I beat Brian Knobs like I said I was going to do.. Then I faced a man whom in which I was very familiar with and that was AJ Styles. AJ is a man whom I helped make into a poster child for this company! AJ Styles is the man whom I have spilt blood with time and time again only to have him come up short most of the time.
Shane chuckles slightly as the memories fondly sit in his mind.
Franchise: But AJ has a way of hitting you when it counts, and he did just that. But it wasn't good enough as I turned him down once again to go on my way towards something I had earned a shot at quite some time ago.
The thoughts currently racing through his mind as he recalls WrestleMania weekend turn his face red with anger. He lays the belt down on his bag.
Franchise: I faced a man whom I wanted to turn into the next Franchise of this company.. A guy whom I thought had what it took to take this promotion to the next level long after I lace up for my final match and call it a day. The one guy who when I was supposed to take over the Nexus, I was going to hand that legacy down to him but in all utter honesty he failed to meet my expectations.. CM Punk, you found out first hand why people call me the Franchise.. Just like the people I beat and the promotions I wrecked in the past, you found out why I can be the most controversial man in wrestling forever and today. Punk, I'm not afraid to push buttons.. I'm not afraid to show people who need it exactly where their place in line is.. And right now, just like it's always been.. That line has been right there behind me.
Shane leans back in the chair and stretches his arms up over the back of his head and looks up to the HOF ring. He brings his right hand down and kisses the ring before spinning it around on his finger for a moment.
Franchise: Next to the ceremony where I was inducted to the Hall of Fame by my good friend Shane Helms, this one took the cake. See I took on Jerry Sags, and I treated him like the piece of human waste he really is. Because when you get Nasty with me, I'll find a way to get you back in more ways than you could ever imagine. You had Brian crack me over the head with a pipe.
Douglas touches the fresh wound on his forehead and cringes slightly.
Franchise: This wound will heal in time Jerry, but the wound I left deep on your soul.. Deep on your pride Sags, is the one you won't be able to recover from.. See I beat you in poetic fashion.. I beat you to become the WWEF World Champion and King of the Ring! So in all fellas, I got to make history. I earned my championships while people like the Nasty Boys and Zack Ryder were handed titles like consolation prizes! Doesn't that just piss you three bozos off?
Shane grabs his title belt and hangs it back up, then he hunts for a shirt to wear. He pulls out a WrestleMaina 4 shirt and places it on over his exposed top area. Then he zips up and straightens up his bags. He pulls down the belt and slips it on around his waist and then picks his bags up to leave the locker room. The camera crew follows him down the hallway.
Franchise: If it were me I would've thrown the belts back to whomever is in charge around here and said "f**k you" but that's not my call. Thank god I wasn't in that boat because I would not have accepted a title that way. But you see for all the things I've done right I see only one thing wrong since I've won this title... I lost to Zack Ryder this week.. And honestly I won't make that same mistake twice, you see Zack I was under taken by all the accolades and the new gold to add to my vast collection. So this week on Raw, I want another match if the powers that be see it fit. I want to erase that loss from the record! I want to destroy you in the middle of that ring.. I want to show everyone out there in TV land that "Browski" is a "Flakie". HAHAHAHA!
Shane walks out of the check in gate and out into the parking lot where his long stretch limo is awaiting him. Camera fades out as the driver places Douglas's bags into the trunk of the limo while Douglas unstraps the belt and climbs into the back with the belt now sitting next to him.
