Sitting the comfort of a hotel room located in the heart of Hartford, Connecticut; we come to see The Franchise Shane Douglas sitting outside the building on a bench as he waits for his rental car to be pulled up outside the main entrance. Shane is wearing a black workout suit and a red shirt underneath it. The jacket is half zipped as part of what looks to be the Raw logo is on the shirt inside. Shane is tightening and retying his black TK gym shoes as WWE Franchise cameras catch him in the act.
"Before you ask me anything Mister Cameraman, let me make one thing perfectly clear to you and the rest of the world.."
Shane postures himself back upright and stares into the camera with his cold blue eyes.
"I do not owe you, the fans, or CM Punk any sort of explanation as to why I do what I do. My actions out there speak for themselves because as always this Franchise has to remain unpredictable. Why you ask? Because it's good for business, and what's good for business is good for this company, period."
Douglas reaches into his right side jacket pocket and pulls out a black motorcycle skull cap and places it on his head. He looks on eagerly for his car.
"Where the f**k is my car? Those idiots should've had it here ten minutes ago. Better not be looting the thing, last time I was missing my d**n three pack of Hanes Breifs! Underwear! For Pete's sake! Anyhow, speaking of thieves.. Nexus seems to be the focus of attention around here. All they do is jump people from behind, snooker people into unfair situations, and try to one by one eliminate the competition.. Smart move on their parts but it looks as if for now they've got their own issues coming as this locker room begins to rally behind one another. This threat seems to be a lot worse than we thought.."
Douglas rubs his nose with his left hand as his 2006 Ford Focus comes around the lot. The dark gray sedan screeches to a stop as the valet hops out and hands Shane his keys. Shane takes the keys and climbs into his car. He invites the camera to come along as he climbs into the passenger side.
"My plan since day one was to use the Nexus as my stepping stone to the Royal Rumble. That I've done thus far, now it seems like other people want to throw themselves under the bus so to speak as well. Lately CM Punk comes to mind. That little peon does not realize the magnitude of what's taking place around here in WWE Franchise. Punk does not realize that you have to take what you want while it's in front of you instead of waiting for opportunity to come knocking at your door. I have made a career, a lifetime, of getting what I want because I took it while it was there!"
Douglas pulls the car out of the lot and turns right on to the road. He's driving at about 50 miles an hour as he speeds up to pace with traffic. He then reaches into his glove box and pulls out a can of Grizzly Dip. He watches the other cars around him while he flips his can a few times before removing the lid and taking in a pinch of the brown mint flavored mixture. He closes the can and tosses it back into the open glove box and slams it shut. Shane comes to a stop at a red light. He then takes the clear Pepsi bottle sitting in the cup holder and unscrews the lid. He spits in it and places the bottle back in the holder. He tosses the lid out his slightly open driver side window.
"I have not gotten to the plateau I am on by sitting on my a** everyday like some people around here have. I've watched people over the last three years waste away and ruin the image of this company with their bullsh*t! I have had to argue and fight with management time after time to get a bone thrown my way and create my own paths to glory! Since day one I've wanted a shot at the WWE Franchise World Championship.. But I kept getting passed by. Vince McMahon did not think that Shane Douglas had anymore worth left to him.. I proved him wrong week after week. I clawed my way to two Intercontinental Championships, I fought for three ECW Championships, and I have earned every other affiliated championship that this company has every traced back to!"
Douglas grabs the bottle and spits again as the light changed to green. He guns up the car and heads down the road again.
"This tournament for the Royal Rumble's final spot isn't just another series of gimmick matches for me. It's more than that.. It's everything I have ever worked for. Every year in the Royal Rumbles of the past I have always come a bit short because I was preoccupied with other things. Now I'm in it all the way, everyone I have crossed with at the moment is involved in this match. Everything prior to the Rumble is a prepping tool to get me ready to defeat twenty nine other wrestlers so I can claim my prize."
Douglas flips his turn signal on. The clicking is almost melodic with the soft sounds of the hard rock station playing on the radio at the moment. He's getting ready to turn into the parking garage of the XL Center. WWE Franchise crew trucks and production trailers are stationed outside. The crew is working tirelessly to set the arena up for the Monday Night show. Douglas pulls into the lot and parks his car into the garage. The 20 minute trip has come to an end as he shuts off the car and walks into the arena's rear entrance. Big Jim, WWE Franchise's Head of Security, checks him in. Shane walks through the darkened halls and out through where the entrance will be for Monday. The ring is set up in the middle of the building, along with the rails to hold back the fans. Shane walks over to the side of the ramp and sits down with his feet hanging over the edge. He grips the platform tightly with his hands as he overlooks the setting.
"On paper people could say that The Franchise could very well have the upper hand in this match. My roll of momentum is so huge right now going into this that I could easily dismiss everyone in this match. I could claim I will be number thirty, and wait my time to scoop up the Rumble victory but I know for all the thirty reasons for me to win.. There's only seven ways I could easily be defeated.. People from my past, people from the future, and people I've never locked horns with all meet in this one fateful match to determine who's going to get the best position to become the top man in this company today."
Shane spots a near by garbage can and chucks his wad of dip into the can. He pulls out a piece of gum and pops it into his mouth. He chews on it for a moment before speaking again.
"The other six men in this match.. Cody Rhodes, Doink, Edge, Kane, Randy Orton, and Triple H.. All have an agenda. Few of these guys have a past with me.. It's no secret by now that I was the reason why Triple H and his pal Shawn Micheals were sent packing from WWE Franchise several years ago. There's no doubt in my mind that Triple H will want to get a measure of revenge whenever the opportunity arises. Triple H is smart and brash, he knows what to do and when to do it, but he's not going to get a chance to do it to me.
Doink The Clown.. You have been a enigma here in WWE Franchise. You role in the House of Horror with the Hennan Family is stuff of gruesome legend around here but Donik, how are you going to fare in this battle royal? How are you going to find it within yourself to step up to the plate long enough to take that next step in your career to enshrine your path to greatness? For years you've been nothing more than a side show carnival attraction trapped inside of a soul which yearns to be the best in the business. If you peel away the layers of paint and hide the ridiculous outfit, you Matt Borne.. You know what I'm talking about! You know it far too well.."
The wrinkling on the forehead of the Franchise grows more evident as he begins to process more and more about his upcoming opponents.
"Cody Rhodes and Kane.. You two men are far more alike then you two could ever imagine. One broke away from a clinging partner who wanted to be complacent in the tag team division where they both were just floundering in. No credit for great matches, no credit for being a tough team, and no World Tag Team Championships to credit their Legacy.. Cody, I admire your gumption but are you sure you're ready to take on a load worthy of a Franchise? Are you sure that you can break the Rhodes Family curse long enough to succeed where your brother Dustin had failed? Will you be able to go back home to that stikin' hillbilly state of Texas and look your daddy in the eyes and tell him honestly that you can be the next World Heavyweight Champion? Ask your father about the greatness of The Franchise.. Ask your father about how he only wished he could be half the wrestler and half the family man I have been.. Cody, you've got far too many demons in the closet just waiting to come out. If Ted doesn't get you, then they will..
Speaking of demons, look at yourself Kane.. You're teamed with that half baked moronic brother of yours known as The Undertaker. Apparently he's found his edge again, well I owe him an ass beating of a lifetime for what he did to me at WrestleMania one when he beat me for the then vacant World Heavyweight Championship. Do not thing I have forgotten about that.. Kane I will use you as a reminder to your brother that paybacks are hell and I will find away to make sure you don't find that perfect spot in this years Royal Rumble match. Besides if I were you, I'd worry more about what Nexus it going to do to you if you two morons keep fooling around with them. I hear that they want your blood and they want you gone from WWE Franchise."
Shane climbs down off the ramp and walks towards the ring area. He cuts his way past the ramp and into the front row of the seats by the end of the ramp. Shane sits down in the chair and looks into the ring with his arms draped over the barricade.
"Edge.. You and Randy Orton seem to have joined forces yet again huh? You two have seemed to recreate the Rated RKO era which was very short lived here not so long ago.. How do you know that Randy truly has your back Edge? How do you know if Randy isn't going to desert you like he did to team with Rhodes and DiBiase when they were Legacy? Who was it that had your back not that long ago? Who was it that helped you achieve so very much in such little time? Edge, it was me and Scott Hall.. Remember the little thing called The Clique which then grew into the Kings of Controversy?! We dominated and held all three major World Championships here in this company. That surpassed everything you and Orton did.. You told me that personally yourself the night after the trifecta was completed.. Yes you and Randy helped clear out the 4 Horsemen, and retied Dickless Flair twice but the fact still remains that you've lost a step and now you're teaming with Orton again to re-claim yourself? Take yourself back to where you came from, the whole full circle thing right, Edge? Who's it going to come down to when it really counts Edge? Say I get pitched out on a freak accident, if it came down to you or Randy.. Who would step aside? Who would go for it all? Or would you two split the purse? Only one man can become number thirty, and only one man can become World Champion. So RKO, Triple H, Kane, Punk, Rhodes, and Doink be prepared for the biggest Franchising in WWE Franchise history.. HAHAHAHA!"
The camera fades out on Douglas laughing and then blurred into an advertisement for this coming Monday's Raw event.
