It's Thursday night, the time is 10 PM. Shane Douglas walks through the narrowed halls of a building after stepping out of an elevator that takes him to the second floor. He's wearing a WWE Franchise t-shirt and a pair of black slacks with a brown belt. On his shoulder is the WWE Franchise World Heavyweight Championship. Following him to document this trip is a photographer for WWE Franchise. He alternates between pictures and video for a future web release of what is going on tonight. He sees a Receptionist sitting at a desk, he walks up to the desk to check in.
Receptionist: Welcome to the 93.1 FM WDRQ studios, I'm Sandy, how may I help you sir?
Franchise: Shane Douglas with WWE Franchise, I'm scheduled here for an interview to promote Monday Night Raw this week.
Receptionist: Just a moment Mister Douglas, I'll check with our DJ, Doug.
Shane leans on the counter top and turns away for a moment while she grabs the office phone and patches into the studio where DJ Doug is currently turning on the next round of music for his listeners. Doug hits the speaker phone button on the other side of the line.
Doug: Miss Sandy, whatcha got for me?
Receptionist: I have a Shane Douglas standing out here from WWE Franchise, he says he was here for an interview and plug for Monday Night Raw.
Doug: Show him in will you? We'll get him set up.
As soon as the line hangs up Shane turns back around as the Receptionist stands up. She motions for him to follow her through the corridor and into a door way where Doug is standing there behind his switchboard. He reaches over and shakes Shane's hand.
Doug: Welcome to the studio, and welcome to Michigan!
Douglas cracks up for a moment and takes a seat across from Doug. He sits the belt down on the counter top and slips on a pair of head phones. Doug also sits down and gears up.
Franchise: Been a while since I've been here, I'm glad we're here this week. Detroit is one of my favorite towns.
The final song comes to an end as Doug is arranging his switchboard and turns on Shane's mic while calling out to the radio base though his mic.
Doug: Alright folks, that was Bruce Springsteen in "Born in the USA" here on 93.1 Doug FM, where we play everything! In here with me in the studio tonight is someone I've been telling you about the last few days. Excited to have him here..
Doug cues up the theme for Monday Night Raw while speaking.
Doug: As we all know Detroit is a city rich in wrestling tradition, the Joe Louis Arena and the old Cobo Hall have played host to many a match and some monumental nights in wrestling history. We keep that tradition alive as on Monday night July 11th, Monday Night Raw comes to us from the Joe Louis Arena at 8 PM eastern time. The man in the studio with me today is "The Franchise" Shane Douglas, the current WWE Franchise Champion, Shane welcome to the show.
As Shane goes to speak Doug cues up his theme Perfect Strangers for a few seconds.
Franchise: Thanks for having me here tonight, we're all really excited to return to Detroit from Raw this week. If you watched WrestleMania last month, and the last edition of Raw last week then you'll be ready for the surprises and events to unfold this Monday night. We're going to have a great line up for you amazing fans here in the Michigan area.
Doug is on his computer and pulls up the WWE Franchise website, he located the Raw card page and looks over to Shane.
Doug: Sounds like this week's program is going to be very good. The card looks to be very promising.
Franchise: Yes, you're going to see the return of Cody Rhodes as he faces his former tag team partner Ted DiBiase as they continue in their storied rivalry. The implosion of the Nexus as CM Punk faces David Otunga and Mason Ryan in a handicapped match. An old classic that this area will enjoy, Lumberjack Match as Christian takes on The Miz. The Three Way Dance between AJ Styles, new comer Alberto Del Rio, and The Rock which is sure to surprised everyone. And the Main Event Tag Match featuring myself teaming with my opponent from last week, Intercontinental Champion, Zack Ryder. We'll be taking on the Tag Team Champions, The Nasty Boys in what should be a wild match up.
A clip of The Nasty Boys saying "Let's Get Nasty" followed by Zack Ryder's "Woo Woo Woo, You Know It" catch phrase plays and Shane chuckles for a moment.
Doug: So there you have it, the total rundown for Monday night by the champ himself. It really does sound like a classic night of wrestling Shane, and especially the main event as it's literally a showcase of champions. As you mentioned earlier there was WrestleMania Four last month and the Raw last week, it seems to me you've been on quite the trip here. You were inducted into the WWE Franchise Hall of Fame, won the King of The Ring tournament, and became the World Champion all in the course of one weekend.. Sounds like a tough and emotional weekend for you?
Franchise: You're about the 100th person to ask me that.. But it's okay. Yeah WrestleMania weekend was amazing both inside and outside of the ring. This company was built and began on the first WrestleMania four years ago, and to be in the main event again three years after the first I'd say I cleaned up good but never imagined it'd be as big as it was. I did get inducted into the Hall of Fame which is a huge honor to anyone who works in this business. The Hall of Fame signifies you as a performer and really is the holy grail for everything you've accomplished in a company and in the business. There's hundred of guys out there who are just as experienced as I am but never get recognized for it, I'm fortunate to have it happen especially with a company like WWEF. Then the next night, if you told me I was going to with both the King of the Ring and the World Title, I would've laughed you out of the building. I'm grateful that it was my night, because I faced a lot of tough competition that I'm still feeling the effects of. I faced opponents of all shapes and sizes that night. The Nastys, AJ, and Punk didn't make it easy for me. I really felt like I was about to expire before the finals because I got run through the gauntlet pretty good.
Clips from last weeks Raw are played in the final moments of his match with Zack Ryder as JR and the King commentate.
JR: Oh no! Look at this King! Zack Ryder might have him here!
King: He's rolled him up! 1.. 2.. 3!
JR: OH MY GAWD!! Zack Ryder just upset the World Heavyweight Champion on the first Raw in several months! Douglas is livid!
A heavy sigh is heard on Shane's end of the mic as Doug leads in.
Doug: Can you shed a little light on this one here? Last week in one on one action you were pinned by your partner this week, Zack Ryder.
Franchise: Yeah, I lost. Ryder caught me with my pants down figuratively speaking. I was riding off the bright lights and grandeur of what I had accomplished the night before. Ryder pulled off an upset of the year right there, because never has the current Intercontinental Champion ever defeated the current World Champion every in the history of WWE Franchise. And that's something I have to live with now, but that's going to change when I extract my own measure of revenge when he least expects it. However this week I have to work with him to take on Knobbs and Sags of the Nasty Boys. Those two fat, stinkin, and loathsome leeches on society have a little unfinished business with me because I bumped them both off in that tournament at WrestleMania. Well this Monday night we'll see about that because I don't intend on taking the dive this time.. The Nasty Boys couldn't beat me one on one and the couldn't do it together when I was on my own; now they want a tag team match? Please?! The only thing those two have going on is their mullets from 1984 and one of them might be the actual father of Zack Ryder.. All comedy aside, there's going to be a whole lot of FRANCHISED assess once Raw is over.
Doug: Well Shane, thank you and thanks to WWE Franchise for this opportunity. The Doug FM team will be a Joe Louis Arena as Guest MC's and we'll have tickets the rest of the week for listeners with various trivia through out the week.
Shane gets up and leaves the studio with his belt as the DJ switches back to music. The scene comes to an end as Douglas poses for a photo and signs and autograph photo with the Doug FM crew before leaving.
